For those who don’t know, Cinema-Con is a yearly, industry only, convention in Las Vegas that tends to break some big movie news as the studios present what they have up their sleeves for the coming year. Think of it like Comic Con Hall H for the suits. But just because you can’t get tickets to this particular event, doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth paying attention to. Studio Employees + Journalists + Las Vegas = News & Leaks. And we like both.
As we all know by now, Sony has turned the creative control of our favorite wall-crawler over to Marvel and we will meet his latest iteration in Captain America: Civil War in just a couple weeks. As exciting as that is (and it really is exciting) we want to know what Spidey will be doing we he gets back to his own movies. And that picture is becoming clearer.
Officially, the first new flick under this new agreement will be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming. This drives home the fact that they really are focused on the fact that our new Peter Parker, Tom Holland, is indeed a high school student and they plan to keep him there for more than a couple scenes. And that is cool and all but who will he be facing off against? Here is where the rumors start.
Birth.Movies.Death, whose bread and butter isn’t scoops but when they break them they are damn near 100%, say that The Vulture will be the main villain in Homecoming. This makes perfect sense. He hasn’t be used yet and that character has a history with preying on children and turning them into his minions. But who will portray Adrian Toomes? Welcome to rumor #2 and it is better then rumor #1.
According to Variety, Sony is looking at none other than Michael Keaton as the lead villain in Spider-man: Homecoming. There is no confirmation at this time but Variety is a sound source for information and couple that with BMDs report, we think it is very possible that we could see the former hero turn villain and how awesome would that be?
