Even if WB’s Suicide Squad movie isn’t exactly pleasing critics, DC Comics and developer Netherrealm Studios know where their bread is buttered. This is apparent in their reveal of two new characters for its Injustice 2 roster. Well, not really new at all, but they’re topical: Harley Quinn and Deadshot.
While both characters featured prominently in the previous Injustice: Gods Among Us, there’s definitely some new paint on these classics. Harley is now sporting the Margot Robbie neon dip-dye as featured in David Ayers’ SS flick, and Deadshot has much more cinematic-styled armor padding.
While some may groan at the more movie-tinged vibe on display (wait till you inevitably get the “Daddy’s Lil’ Monster” shirt as paid DLC), there’s a shit ton of glorious winks to the source material that should sweeten those sour grapes. Harley’s flanked by Bud and Lou (her pet hyenas), now sporting candy-colored coifs…Jesus, how the hell did she get those things to stay still long enough for the Manic Panic to set? Deadshot is Deadshot as usual, with badass gunplay and blade antics that are sure to make your friends hate you when you inevitably squeeze those controller triggers. Also, there’s a quick peek at an alternate Harley getup that hearkens back to her classic getup (which I’ve screencapped above because I love you all that much).
Injustice 2 will be released in 2017 on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
