- jason statham, Meg
Jason Statham has made a career out of kicking the crap out of guys on screen and there is no denying that he is one of the best in the business at doing just that. But that doesn’t mean that is all he can do. No, Statham will soon be venturing outside of his comfort zone and he will be fighting dinosaurs in Meg.
Based on the successful series of novels, Meg is about a prehistoric species of shark, megalodon, that has survived into present day in the depths of the ocean. The megs are trapped at those extreme depths by the extreme environment, but an accident allows one of the creatures to escape to the surface and wreck havoc.
The film has been in development for nearly 20 years, with numerous actors and directors attached along the way, but it always seemed to fall apart. Once Jurassic World broke all sorts of records last year, Meg was thrust back into development. Now with Statham on board, presumably to play the lead, Jonas Taylor, an ex-navy diver turned paleontologist, Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) directing, and Chinese money funding it, Meg may actually happened this time.
As we wait for the movie that will finally give us Jason Statham as scientist punching a prehistoric shark in the face (you know it is going to happen) we will just have to be content watching him punch regular old scumbags in the face.
