There is a long history of child actors who, as they begin to get older, tend of either disappear from the spotlight or find themselves thrust into it for all of the wrong reasons. So it is always nice to see a success story, such as Daniel Radcliffe. Over the years he as grown into a fine actor, picking interesting roles in his post-Potter life. The latest such role is Swiss Army Man, or as it has often been referred to as “That Farting Corpse Movie.”
When Swiss Army Man premiered at Sundance earlier this year, it was immediately divisive. I seemed like those that saw it either loved it or hated it. There wasn’t much in between. In the film, Paul Dano is stranded on an island and contemplating suicide. Then one day a corpse washes ashore, giving Dano a companion and a reason to live. Basically, it is an f’d up version of Castaway, with Radcliffe playing the role of Wilson.
The premise piqued my curiosity but now the first trailer has been released and I can say that I can’t wait to see this film. Check it out below.
Hank (Paul Dano) is stranded on a deserted island, having given up all hope of ever making it home again. But one day everything changes when a corpse named Manny (Daniel Radcliffe) washes up on shore; the two become fast friends, and ultimately go on an epic adventure that will bring Hank back to the woman of his dreams.
Swiss Army Man floats into theaters June 17th, 2016.
