Wednesday, July 6th, 2016. The blog invasion is upon us with Nash Tyler Herrington!
Today is a great day, because today is the day I, Nash Tyler Herrington, invade the CONtv Blog. I’m going to keep this first article pretty simple. I want to give you an idea of what you can expect when reading articles at CONtv. I’m a verbose mother f’er so I have a tendency to talk and talk and talk and quite honestly just repeat myself and drive my point home until someone tells me to shut up. (Insert shut up comment here) But I love sharing with the fans of CONtv, and that’s what the CONtv Blog is going to be all about. A community, sharing their thoughts with one another. In the beginning it’s going to be a lot of Nash, I will not pull any punches there, so I hope you all like me. But I’m on the hunt for more voices, more opinions, more insights into the geek world we love.
By the way, what is the “geek world” exactly? So many of us say that, “the geek world”, “nerd-dom”, “geek culture”, so many monikers with no real, true definition. It’s too big a universe to pigeon hole someone and accurately label them a “geek”. Some fans love comics, other are cine-files, there are gamers, table-top’ers, cosplayers, TV nuts, anime-niacs… no end to the list really. Then there are fans of celebrity, sports, culture, art, horror, science, technology and everything else in-between. There are so many things out there to love, so many options.
I think I have it all figured out. It’s not the 80’s anymore. The “nerds” took revenge a long time ago, I’m writing this article and people will read it and it will never need to be seen on a piece of paper. Nerd-win right there. The reality is, we’re all geeks. Everybody is a nerd about something. One guy in the room can quote every line from The Killing Joke and the girl right next to him can detail the technology used in Google’s self-driving cars. Then the girl down the street starts talking about her strategy in Overwatch while her boyfriend is having a debate about why Dodger closer Kenley Jansen didn’t make the NL All Star team last year due to unavoidable league politics.
Being a geek is immersing yourself in something you love. So that’s what we’re going to do here. I’m Nash Tyler Herrington, and I’m going to immerse all of you in what I love. And I’m going to find more geeks and they’re going to immerse the hell out of all of us. I heard a quote by Jim Gaffigan the other day and I think I’m just going to co-opt it as the CONtv Blog Mission Statement. I’ll throw it at the bottom to close this thing out, but before that I want to leave you with this…
Come hang out with me on the CONtv Blog, leave a comment, share an opinion, bring your “geek-dom” to the table. The CONtv family is about to grow, I’m just excited you’re all going to be a part of it!
Ok that’s it for the first entry, now for my new (unofficial and unapproved) mission statement, brought to you by Jim Gaffigan.
Celebrate what you love people, talk soon.
